Milt stegall presents 2 scholarships awarded in his name
WINNIPEG, Manitoba – The Manitoba Foundation for Sports through Sport Manitoba has announced 2 student athletes honored with Milt Stegall scholarships for the 2009/10 academic year.
The Manitoba Foundation for Sports Scholarship Program supports young athletes of Sport Manitoba partners who participate in amateur sport while pursuing a post secondary education on a full time basis.
The Province of Manitoba in partnership with Sport Manitoba and the Manitoba Foundation for Sports provide the Milt Stegall Scholarship awards to the top graduating high school student entering a post secondary institution ($1000) and the top student in their second or subsequent year in a post secondary institution ($2000), selected from amongst the previously announced twenty foundation scholarship winners. 
The Scholarships were created by the Province to recognize Milt Stegall when he became the Canadian Football Leagues’ all-time leader for touchdowns.
The emphasis of the scholarship is placed on athletes who have competed at the provincial level or higher in the previous year and who have maintained a high level of academic standing. Applicants must also demonstrate a commitment to amateur sport through their involvement in coaching, officiating and volunteer activities.
The University winner is Stéphåne Lenoski: 
• A third year full time student in the Faculty of Science focusing on Microbiology at the University of Manitoba.
• Plays defense for the Bison Men’s Hockey Team.
• Is a two time CIS Academic All-Canadian and been recognized on the Dean’s Honor Roll, maintaining a GPA of 3.94.
• Recently he played on the Canadian Men’s FISU Hockey team for the World Interuniversity Games in China, where the team won a silver medal.
• When he isn’t on the ice or hitting the books, he can be found coaching or volunteering his time.
The High School winner is Rachéle Bosc: 
• Graduated from Balmoral High student as an honor roll A student, where she played as a forward with the Blazors.
• In 2008, represented Manitoba twice at Nationals in hockey, first at the National Aboriginal Hockey Championships and then going on to play for the Manitoba U18 team that won a bronze medal at Nationals.
• She is passionate about giving back to the sport community thru volunteer coaching in hockey and skating programs.
The Manitoba Foundation for Sports Scholarship Program was established in 1992. The Foundation has since awarded 908 scholarships totaling $705.917.
Sport Manitoba is a not for profit organization and the lead planning, programming and funding agency for the development of amateur sport in Manitoba. Sport Manitoba partners with over 100 organizations to deliver sport in our province and is responsible for programs including the Power Smart Manitoba Games, Coaching Manitoba, Team Manitoba, Manitoba Sports Hall of Fame and Museum and KidSport.
