Nominations Open for 2006 Sport Manitoba Sport Awards
Winnipeg – Shannon Rempel received her award in 2001. Britanny Schussler in 2002 and 2003. They are former Sport Manitoba Youth Female Athletes of the Year and now both are headed to the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin, Italy as members of Canada’s Speed Skating team. They are just two of hundreds who have been nominated for Sport Manitoba’s Sport Awards in their 21-year history.
Nominations for this year’s Sport Manitoba Sport Awards are now being accepted by Provincial Sport Organizations. Nominations can be made in seven categories based on achievements in 2005:
- Sport Manitoba Female Youth Athlete of the Year
- Sport Manitoba Male Youth Athlete of the Year
- Sport Manitoba Junior Team of the Year
- Great-West Life Volunteer of the Year
- Great-West Life Youth Volunteer of the Year
- Sport Manitoba Official of the Year
- Sport Administrator of the Year
Nominations are open to the public and Provincial Sport Organizations will determine their one finalist per category. Members of Manitoba’s sport media will select the winners.
The deadline for nominations is February 15, 2006.
Nominees will be honoured and winners will be announced at the annual Sport Manitoba “A Night of Champions” in mid-April.
