Dr. Michael Cembroski, BSc, DC - Chiropractor

Born in Edmonton and raised in Winnipeg, Mike graduated the University of Manitoba with a Bachelor of Science in 2000. He moved to Minneapolis to attend Northwestern Health Science University, College of Chiropractic graduating with a Doctor of Chiropractic in 2004. During this time, Mike also completed his EMT certificate and worked at the University of Minnesota Emergency Medical Services.

Mike is also a member of The Royal College of Chiropractic Sports Sciences (Canada). Chiropractic Sports Specialists keep active Canadians at their best by treating mechanical imbalances or dysfunctions. Moving back to Manitoba, Mike has worked in Brandon and Hamiota and opened a private practice in Winnipeg in 2006.  He enjoys treating players from the sidelines and can be found at a Winnipeg Dynamo Kyiv Soccer game. Mike joined the Sport Medicine Centre because of a strong believe in a team approach to health and wellness.

Evelyn Ashton, CAT (C) - Athletic Therapist, Osteopathy (current study) - Currently on Mat Leave

Evelyn graduated from the University of Winnipeg in 2009 with a Bachelor of Science, majoring in Applied Health and Kinesiology. After graduation, Evelyn became a Certified Athletic therapist through completion of an intensive written and practical examination.

After a few years as an athletic therapist, Evelyn enrolled in the Canadian College of Osteopathy’s Osteopathic Manual Practitioner program (D.O.M.P). Evelyn is working towards the completion of the 5-year program and hopes to complete in 2017.  This osteopathic approach helps Evelyn bring a holistic view to her assessments and treatments.  Combining traditional athletic therapy with high-level manual practice, Evelyn is able to look at health concerns for any age through a unique lens.

Evelyn’s practice allows for her to treat everyone from the common everyday injury or strain, to injuries resulting from high-level athletics. Using her experiences with multiple sports at high levels, and her background and current training, she is able to develop treatments that are designed specifically for each individual client. She is very passionate about helping her clients feel their best and achieve their goals.

Dana Kolach, Massage TherapistDana Kolach

Dana graduated from Mount Royal College Massage Therapy Training Institute in 1998 and the Massage Therapy College of Manitoba in 2002.  In 2008 she went on to complete a Bachelor of Kinesiology at the University of Manitoba.  In addition to massage therapy, she is trained in Craniosacral Therapy, Myofascial Cupping and Lymphatic Drainage Technique.  Over the years Dana has worked in both clinical and spa/wellness environments in Canada, Costa Rica, Cayman Islands and Turks and Caicos Islands.

Dana has a passion for health and wellness of the body and mind.  During her 18 years practicing massage therapy she has developed a vast knowledge of sports-related and workplace injuries and rehabilitation protocols.  Dana’s extensive experience combined with her academic background in kinesiology and understanding of the mechanics of the body, have given her the skills to effectively treat and prevent musculoskeletal injuries, while at the same time providing a very relaxing experience.  

 

Kirk Cook, BKin, Dip Ped-Certified Pedorthist Canada

Kirk graduated from the University of Manitoba in 2008 with a Bachelor of Kinesiology. He went on to attain a Diploma in Pedorthics from the University of Western Ontario in 2011.

Working as a Certified Pedorthist in a private practice, Kirk enjoys being part of the overall treatment plan to help get people back to doing the activities they enjoy.  It is exciting to now be able to work as part of the Sport Medicine Centre team to help people resume their everyday activities.

Kirk’s role as a Pedorthist includes evaluating footwear and assessing the need for over-the-counter insoles or custom insoles. Kirk also recovers old or existing custom insoles and adjusts insoles using a metatarsal pad or bar.

Kirk enjoys outdoor activities including running marathons, cross country skiing, canoeing, hiking, camping, and biking.  His current motivation is to train for endurance-focused events that involve a variety of physical skills.

Chris Hyde RD, B.Sc.HNSc - Sport Nutrition Consultant

Chris has a passion for sport and works alongside athletes to assist them with reaching their performance goals. Chris grew up playing hockey in Manitoba where he played community level as a youth on up to the local junior ranks to now putting back that same passion and time into the sport through coaching.

Chris received his Bachelor of Science degree in Human Nutritional Sciences from the University of Manitoba and subsequently completed a dietetic internship. Chris is also a certified level 1 in ISAK body anthropology. Chris is a member of Dietitians of Canada and the Manitoba Sports Nutrition Network.

He helps athletes and teams reach their goals through healthy, appropriate nutrition education and meal planning. Be it the grass roots or elite level, all ages and sports, nutrition is a key component to top level performance and Chris can help show how nutrition will benefit you.
