The two teams primed for a gold medal tilt in boys soccer Saturday have found the back of the net often in their so far undefeated quests.
Westman won their three previous tilts by a score of 25-2 and Eastman overwhelmed their opponents 22-0. The two preeminent squads in this year’s tournament will face for gold at 10:30 a.m.
Camilo Rodriguez mustered a hat-trick in Westman’s first game, a 7-0 win over Norman, and Carlos Paz led Westman with four goals in their 13-1 triumph over Winnipeg Blue on Thursday. Friday’s game saw Westman better Interlake 5-1.
Eastman’s road to gold was highlighted with two goals apiece from Sammy Fuss and Jarvis Ewasko in a 9-0 opening win against Parkland Thursday. The same score happened hours later when Eastman beat Winnipeg Gold 9-0, highlighted by an Ewasko hat-trick. Eastman kept their shutout streak alive Friday morning when they eclipsed Central 4-0.
In Friday afternoon action, Norman won the fifth/sixth place game 2-1 against Parkland and Winnipeg Blue beat Winnipeg Gold 5-2 in the seventh/eighth place game.
