After much anticipation, the 2016 Power Smart Manitoba Summer Games have arrived and many medals have already been handed out in various track events.
Aidan Schroeder is one of a few athletes who took home more than one medal on opening day Monday. He took first place with his team, Eastman, in the medley relay bantam event and silver in the high jump bantam male category, a mere 0.03 meters behind Interlake’s Brayden Wiebe, who took home gold. For Aiden it was a successful morning.
The morning consisted of 28 athletic events that tested everything from vertical to cardio endurance. Even those who didn’t take home gold medals took pride in their effort and fully committed themselves to doing their best.
There were also some ties in the morning. Lance Bobesko and Jimmy Brunnmeier each tied for second in the midget male high jump event with a height of 1.55 meters. In the same event three other ties occurred.
