Coaches DevelopmentInformation on Coaches Certification, Developmental Programs, Coaches Recognition and Resources is available on the Coaching Manitoba Unit web site at www.coachingmanitoba.ca High Performance Coaches AssistanceSport Manitoba supports educational opportunities for our province's high performance coaches. Grants ranging from $250 to $600 are available to support coaches for costs associated with attendance at international competitions, clinics, seminars or national team camps. Eligible coaches should contact their appropriate Provincial Sport Organization. High Performance Coaches EmploymentSport Manitoba provides financial assistance to support the employment of high performance provincial team coaches with priority given to Canada Games sports. Grants of $5,000 to $10,000 are available on a 2-to-1 matching basis with a participating Provincial Sport Organization. Contact the appropriate Provincial Sport Organization for more information. Coaches/Officials Travel AssistanceAssistance of up $200 is available to coaches attending recognized National Coaches Certification Clinics (Theory or Technical), to coaches participating in Coaching Manitoba or PSO sponsored seminars/conferences and volunteer officials attending recognized Officials Certification Clinics.
Making Dreams PossibleThrough the Making Dreams Possible program, GM and the Coaching Association of Canada will enhance the experience of our youngest Canadian athletes by providing funding for coach training and development. One hundred grants per year of $2,000 each will be awarded to support community sport organizations. There will be two application deadlines annually: February 14 and September 30, up to 50 grants for each application wave. In addition, the program will provide 10 awards of $10,000 each to coaches of high performance athletes each year until 2010. In its first year, the General Motors (GM) Making Dreams Possible initiative, in partnership with the Coaching Association of Canada (CAC) awarded 115 community clubs grants and 10 high performance grants across Canada. These grants have already provided funds for coach training and development to over 5,000 coaches, and ultimately affecting nearly 70,000 Canadian athletes. Application deadline is February 14.
