David Snider

On February 2, 2008, in front of a crowd numbering over 400, Manitoban David Snider became the youngest ever to win the National Seniors Badminton Championship! This victory comes less than a year after David’s win at National Juniors, and within months of going undefeated in all Singles and Doubles matches at the Western Canada Summer Games as part of Team Manitoba.

These accomplishments alone may sound impressive, but only represent a sampling of the numerous events during 2007 in which David participated and excelled.

Selection to the Pan American Games, held last July in Brazil, was by special invitation. This recognition was based on David’s outstanding performance in Senior Championships while still a Junior, his dedicated training and commitment, natural ability, and potential. David is well known across Canada for his dedication to training.

David was honoured by being selected as Flag Bearer for Manitoba at the Western Canada Summer Games in August 2007, where his badminton team won a bronze medal and he personally went undefeated.

While David may face numerous challenges competing in his chosen sport, he still manages to balance his schedule with university, and also takes the time to mentor and coach younger players.

Badminton Manitoba considers David a valuable resource and an excellent ambassador for the sport.

David’s personal goal is to represent Canada in the 2012 Olympic Games. We’re sure to see you there, David!
