Fitness Centre Launches First Children's Programs

We are excited to now offer Fit Kids Healthy Kids inspired youth programming to Winnipeg's general public through the Canada Games Sport for Life Fitness Centre. Top Athletes Train at Brandon's Healthy Living Centre

In-Season Training for Athletes

Off-season is the training time year where the greatest amount of improvement in strength, speed, power, and stamina and body composition can be made. The bulk of the time is spent is in the training room and more time is spent away from the field, court or ice. This is an ideal time to take a much needed break from the sport, evaluate your past season and set goals to make the next season better than the one you just finished.

New Scholarship Announced​

The Fleming Family Hockey Coach scholarship will be presented annually to a student who has demonstrated a commitment to coaching hockey in Manitoba. The goal is to encourage students to continue coaching hockey while attending a post-secondary institution and beyond. The $1,200 scholarship will be applied to the recipient’s tuition.

Maddy Mitchell and Nicole Boyle stood side-by-side on the podium for the second time after earning bronze in the double canoe 200-metre final today.

More Medals In the Pool

While rain made for a difficult day in several Canada Games events today, Manitoba swimmers found more success in the water racing to another two medals at Pan Am Pool. Oksana Chaput and Sam Currie, who each earned gold medals on Tuesday, respectively earned silver and bronze in the pool today.

Manitoba adds three gold medals in the pool

Team Manitoba earned three gold medals in the pool today with first-place finishes by female swimmers Sam Currie, Quinlan Roberts, and Oksana Chaput. Currie and Roberts finished first in a pair of Special Olympics races while Chaput swam to gold in the female 100-metre freestyle final.

Team Manitoba paddles to the podium

Team Manitoba athletes made their mark paddling to bronze and silver medals on the Red River today. The pair of medals earned in canoe kayak raises Manitoba’s medal count at the Canada Summer Games to 20.

Team Manitoba adds eight medals

By the time all events had ended today, Manitoba added three bronze, four silver, and a gold to their medal count which now sits at 10. Team Manitoba baseball also earned a shot at gold with a 1-0 win over Alberta in their semifinal matchup.

The first time Emma Gray put on the Team Manitoba uniform, she won a gold and a bronze medal in rowing at the 2015 Western Canada Summer Games – that was her first year in the sport. Two years later, not only is she back in Team Toba gear for the 2017 Canada Summer Games in Winnipeg, but she will lead the team into the Opening Ceremonies on July 28 as the official flag bearer.

Regional Athlete Testing Combines
