Elise Paetkau (far left).

How long have you been coaching this sport?

12 years.

What is your favourite coaching memory/story/moment?

Taking a team out to Sovereign Lake and skiing right out of our accommodations every single day. We had an amazing time.

Who was/is your role model in sport?

Megan Carter – she’s an awesome ski coach in Manitoba.

What does a typical practice look like for your team?

We start with a warm-up and some agility drills. On Saturdays, we join the younger teams to play a few games. Next, we work on technique as we ski the trails and finish off with some intervals to get ready for the races.

What do you look for in a Canada Games athlete?

Dedication to their training. Passion for their sport. A great attitude and team player approach to sport.

Any words of wisdom for Team Toba athletes?

Enjoy your time at the games. It is an experience that you will remember for your entire life.
