It’s a big weekend for us here at the Canada Games Sport for Life Centre! We’re hosting a three-day event called the Community Better Challenge, put on by ParticipACTION.
This event is in its first year and we couldn’t be more proud to be a part of it. Our courts will be hosting a basketball drop-in on Friday June 7, badminton and table tennis on Saturday June 8, and wheelchair basketball on Sunday June 9.
Fit Kids Healthy Kids will also be here on Sunday with some fun activities.
But this isn’t just about what we’re doing in our building… it’s about what Winnipeg should be doing! We’re competing to become Canada’s Most Active Community. The winning community gets $150,000 that will go toward funding local physical activity projects.
So do your part and download the ParticipACTION app and start tracking your progress. The challenge runs until June 16.
I believe these kinds of events bring people together…people who you may not come into contact with anywhere else. I’ve made so many friends through sport in my life and so I love when these kinds of events come along. I hope you have the opportunity to make the same connections!
We’re really hoping to foster a team atmosphere with no pressure. You can come try out a sport, and it’ll also give you an opportunity to check out our facility if you haven’t been in it yet!
We encourage everyone to come out this weekend to show your community spirit and make Winnipeg a more active and healthier city.
All of our activities are free and open to all ages. See you soon!
