Penalty kicks were required Saturday for Eastman to clinch the boys soccer gold medal at the Steinbach Soccer Park.
Eastman surpassed Westman 4-3 in penalty kicks, which gave them gold and the 3-2 final.
The two teams got to overtime on the backs of goals by Camillo Rodriguez, who fired both of Westman’s tallies, and Kian Minnaar and Sammy Fuss who each found the twine once for Eastman.
Both teams beat their opposing keepers regularly to qualify for the gold medal game. Prior to Saturday’s final tilt, Eastman outscored their opponents 22-0 and Westman did the same by a combined 25-2 score.
Central earned the bronze medal with a 2-0 conquest of Interlake. Shawn Green and Colby Irwin got them on the board, each with a goal apiece.
