On Wednesday, April 15, 2020 Golf Builder Peggy Colonello passed away after suffering a stroke from which she could not recover. The 97-year-old was inducted into the Manitoba Sports Hall of Fame back in 1994 and was also honoured by the Manitoba Golf Hall of Fame as one of their first inductees.

Colonello was a lifer at Elmhurst Golf & Country Club and served as President of the MLGA (now known as Golf Manitoba with the amalgamation with the men’s association known as the MGA) in 1975-76 and rose through the ranks to become president of the national body, the CLGA, in 1982-83.

Colonello had a real passion for the game of golf and she and her late husband Alex set up a foundation which pledged three million dollars to junior golf in Manitoba.

A truly great lady in every sense of the word, Peggy Colonello lived a long and meaningful life and she will be missed.
