Gymnasts ready to kick off competition

Gymnastics TeamTeam Toba’s artistic gymnastics team brings together athletes and coaches from four different clubs –Winnipeg’s Springers Gymnastics, Winnipeg Gymnastics Centre, and Panthers Gymnastics, and Brandon’s Brandon Eagles Gymnastics.

The team was named in December 2018 and they’ve been training hard for their moment. Today was their first training day at the 2019 Canada Winter Games and they’re all very excited to be here and looking forward to the first day of competition tomorrow.

17-year-old Mac Neumann says his role model is his teammate, Akira Cormier, and 18-year-old Cormier is humbled by the compliment and returns it back to Neumann.

The girls range in ages from 14-17 and come from a variety of competitive backgrounds. 14-year-old Jordyn Crerar and 16-year-old Jordyn Galloway have competed in Canadian National Championships, 15-year-old Caitlin Yip has competed in Western Canadian Gymnastics Championships, and together they are taking in all the exciting new experiences and friendships that come with multi-sport competition.
