The Manitoba Sports Hall of Fame (MBSHOF) is looking for a talented and passionate individual with a financial background to join our Board of Directors. As a Director, you will play a vital role in leading our organization, ensuring proper governance and management, and contributing to our success while preserving and celebrating Manitoba’s rich sports heritage.
Responsibilities
- Serve a three-year term with an option for re-election for one additional term.
- Attend and actively participate in bi-monthly Board of Director meetings.
- Lead or serve on one subcommittee or project committee.
- Assist the Board in fulfilling its fiduciary duties by reviewing annual financial statements, budgets, and accounting practices.
- Support fundraising activities by attending events (e.g. Whisky Fest) and/or becoming a patron.
- Attend the annual Hall of Fame Induction ceremony.
- Play an active role in developing and expanding our donor base to ensure the long-term financial stability of the MBSHOF.
- Act as a goodwill ambassador for the organization and its programs.
- Ensure the continuance of the Board and subcommittees by recruiting and electing new board members.
- With other Directors, evaluate and review Strategic Planning objectives, ensuring outlined areas are addressed and expectations are progressing/met.
Competencies and Expectations
- Strong support and passion for sports history and a keen interest in serving actively on a board of directors.
- Previous board of directors, volunteer, or similar experience an asset.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- CPA certification.
- Willingness and aptitude for collaborative work with other directors and sub-committee members.
- Integrity, ethics, and commitment to upholding our values.
Additional Notes
- All individuals must reside in the province of Manitoba.
- This opportunity may evolve into the Treasurer position during the term.
