Sport Manitoba is looking for somebody dynamic, innovative, and high-energy with a passion for sports to join its organization. The Director of Sport is part of the leadership team that will lead a team of dedicated employees to execute the strategic, business, and operational plans of the organization related to sport development. Primary responsibilities include:

  • Sport governance and policy management.
  • Grant development, evaluation, and allocation.
  • Oversight of interprovincial games, Manitoba Games, coaching, and performance.
  • Developing and maintaining partnerships with sport partner organizations in the areas of grants and development, high performance, and community sport.
  • Safe Sport initiatives.
  • Budget management.

 

Qualifications and Experience
  • Degree in business management, sport management, or related field. An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
  • 5 plus years of management experience, with responsibility for planning, organizing, directing and mentoring staff, preferably in a not-for-profit sport environment.
  • Experience in preparing budgets and managing program/financial accountability.
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills for building and maintaining positive working relationships and partnerships.
  • Excellent written communication skills.
  • Experience working with provincial and/or national sport organizations is an asset.
  • Must be able to work extra time outside of normal office hours as required.
  • Bilingual (English/French) is an asset.
