Games Specialist

At Sport Manitoba we fund and plan sports programs to promote the development of vibrant citizens, athletes, and communities in Manitoba. We are currently seeking a Games Specialist.


Reporting to the Senior Games Manager, the Games Specialist assists with Sport Manitoba’s Manitoba and Canada Games programs. The Games Specialist provides coordination and consultation services to Manitoba Games host societies committees and Team Manitoba in the areas of operational plan development, program administration, implementation, evaluation, and financial management. In addition to consultation with Games sports, the Games Specialist assists the Sport Partner funding area with consultative services and resources to support organizational effectiveness, governance, planning, sport program development and assessment of funding applications for recognized provincial sport organizations.


  • Completion of post-secondary education in either sport or recreation management or a related field
  • Experience working with volunteer and provincial sport and/or national sport organizations
  • Ability to work in a team environment as well as independently
  • Strong organizational, planning, and time management skills
  • The ability to work under pressure with strict deadlines
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to make quick decisions
  • Flexible and willing to adapt to changing roles
  • Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Must be able to work extra time outside of normal office hours as required
  • Proficiency with common office software, such as Microsoft Word, Excel
  • Bilingual (English/French) is an asset;
  • Travel is required.
