Eastman opened the scoring less than 10 minutes into the under-16 girls soccer gold medal game. Interlake took the first two shots of the game but both were saved by Eastman’s keeper, Emma Winram.
Despite Interlake’s constant effort and aggressive offence the game ended in a shutout with a score of 3-0 for Eastman. The second goal of the game was a penalty kick seconds before the first half was over.
Eastman’s captain Daria Winzoski says this was the best game they’ve played. She states everything went their way and there were simply no mistakes.
“Positivity is what got us this far,” said Winzoski about her team’s success.
Micaela Werry had two of Eastman’s goals and Katelyn Szmon contributed a tally herself.
In the bronze medal game, Joie Simon scored Norman’s only goal in their 1-0 win against Westman.
