Eight Rule in Triathlon

Eight triathletes left St. Malo Provincial Park with gold medals hanging around their neck Tuesday.

Of the three contestants in the 16-17 year-old girls the top spots went to Central’s Hailee Morisseau(1:17:24), Winnipeg Gold’s Rebecca Silk (1:21:50) and Interlake’s Serena Derksen (1:25:59). In the same age group for boys, it was all Team Westman, with Jameson Plewes (1:04:03), Iwan Levin (1:04:44) and Carson McComb (1:06:22) winning gold, silver and bronze, respectively.

In the 14-15 year-old age bracket, Morgan Ott with Winnipeg Blue was the fastest girl with a time of 45:54. In the boys category, Winnipeg Gold’s Carson Michael Cortvriendt won gold at 40:37. Central’s Marina Gross (39:35) took top spot in the 12-13 year-old girls division, with Anja Krueger (39:39) of Interlake only four seconds off the pace.  

The top finisher among 12-13 year-old boys was Winnipeg Gold’s Ben Swajcer (40:41) followed by Central’s Blake Harris (41:17). In the 10-11 year-old girls race Winnipeg Blue’s Kylie Cock-Loder earned gold with a time of 26:55, 28 seconds better than Central’s Madiso Firlotte.

The 10-11 year-old boys had the largest division with 13 entries. Winnipeg Blue’s Hayes McMillan won the gold with a time of 25:38. The silver medal went to Winnipeg Gold’s Adam Smith, 11 seconds behind.
