2016 Summer - Women to Watch Grant Recipients
Christie is a nationally ranked 3D archer from St. Ambrose, Manitoba. Christie is visually impaired and competes against able bodied archers. Christie has won countless Provincial and National Indoor and Outdoor 3D Archery medals. Christie is working hard to achieve her goal of representing Canada at the 2017 World Outdoor 3D Archery Championships.
Emily is 14 years old and has been wakeboarding for three years. Emily is a Manitoba Provincial Wakeboard Team member and has won two provincial competitions. She has also captured a gold and bronze medal at the 2015 Canadian Wakeboard Nationals. Emily is looking to continue to perform well at the National level, and to encourage other girls to participate and compete in the sport of wakeboarding.
Isabela is a gymnast from Brandon. She proudly represented Canada at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio where she qualified and competed in the beam final. Isabela set a record score of 58.55 winning the Senior High Performance Gold All Around, Gold on Uneven Bars and Beam at the Canadian Championships.
Abby is a 15 year old Water Polo athlete. Abby started playing water polo in 2012 and plays with the Neptunes. Abby has participated in the Women’s Youth Cup in Montreal. Abby continues to develop her skills and will be attending a High Performance Camp in Kamloops. Abby hopes to continue to one day attend an NCAA to continue her academic and sport pursuits.
2016 Summer - Women to Watch Coaching Grant Recipients
Holly Ediger – Holly is a Head Coach at the Aquatica Synchro Club. Holly will be using funding through the Women to Watch grant to help cover expenses incurred by participating in an apprentice coaching opportunity in Toronto.
Amy Harrison – Amy is a busy soccer coach, currently coaching four teams. Amy will be using the Women to Watch funding to support her coaching development.
