Leading up to the 2023 Canada Winter Games, we are featuring the dedicated coaches who spend countless hours giving back to sport. Let’s get to know ringette coach, Lynn Girardin!

How long have you been coaching this sport?

Over 25 years

What is your favourite coaching memory/story/moment?

Winning the Canadian Ringette Championships in 2018 which were hosted in Winnipeg

Who was/is your role model in sport?

My Dad

What does a typical practice look like for your team?

A typical practice for us is to start with edgework/footwork, followed by a flow drill, then we dive into more tactical work on the offensive and defensive sides.

What do you look for in a Canada Games athlete?

Heart and effort. Someone that is willing to do whatever it takes for the team.

What are the team goals for the 2023 Canada Games?

Our team goals for the 2023 games are to bring home a medal.

Any words of wisdom for Team Toba athletes?

Enjoy every minute of the experience. You are one of a few chosen athletes that get to experience such a great opportunity. Take the time to explore other sports, knowing that all those athletes/coaches have all worked just as hard as you to get here.
