Performance Volleyball

Helping you become the best volleyball player you can be

Take your game to the next level with the only pre-season performance volleyball camp of its kind.

Our program features on-court training and volleyball-specific strength and conditioning in our state-of-the-art performance centre.

No previous strength and conditioning experience is required. Our expert coaches will teach you how to do things the right way to safely build power and strength. Our goal is to have you jump higher, hit harder, move quicker, and be your best for school and club tryouts. This is the next level of volleyball training.

Performance Volleyball is scheduled August 6 – 30, 2024  and is priced at $498 for the full four-week camp.

Strength and Athletic Performance Sessions

After each on-court training session, the program will shift to the Sport Manitoba Performance Centre. The group’s focus will be on getting faster, stronger, and more explosive. This will include working on maximizing your footwork through your approach, learning how to change direction effectively. Both of these skills will help with jumping higher and moving quicker to get more balls up.

Camp Highlights

Each week, we will take on a different skill and will move from basic to advanced throughout the week. Then, as each week goes by, we will build on skills from the previous week, playing full games in the final week.

  • Week 1 – We will start with what every game of volleyball starts with, serve-receive. With a focus on accuracy, picking seams to serve, and learning to have two types of serves in the toolbox for different scenarios. This week will also focus on passing, including how to properly adjust to either a float or a spin serve, and how to strategically set your passing line up for the greatest possible success off the serve.
  • Week 2 – The game of volleyball is predominantly played in transition offence. So, throughout this second week, we will tackle good defence and creating offensive opportunities out of it.
  • Week 3 – The week everyone will be excited for! Week 3 is where we cover attacking and blocking. Many players have two tools in their belt, swing (cross or line) and tip. We want to teach other ways to score and practice using those tools in specific situations that would be most effective. We want to encourage smart hitting and smart blocking. That is, to teach players to avoid a tendency to not think about the play, go up, and swing as hard as possible or simply put hands up to get a touch when blocking. We want players to be agile and able to make the right play when the situation calls for it.
  • Week 4 – Last but not least, we will run some wash drills and get into scrimmaging while trying to implement all the skills we learned over the previous three weeks.
