Sport Manitoba awarded $22,500 in academic scholarships to 14 high school students, eight university students, and six Manitoba coaches. The awards included the Manitoba Foundation for Sports Scholarships, Sport Manitoba Coaching Bursaries, Fleming Family Hockey Coach Scholarship supported by Jennifer Fleming, and Princess Royal Pan Am Scholarship Endowment Fund.

It is our goal to ensure every Manitoban has access to the resources they need to realize their full athletic potential. These scholarships help young athletes and coaches thrive while building the capacity of sport throughout the province.

“For my future career in Judo, I plan on continuing to train full-time and compete at national and international level tournaments. After Nationals, my goal is to qualify for the National team and compete at the Panamerican Championships and Junior World Championship,” said recipient Sarah Ekosky.

“I’d like to continue to coach softball and hockey, and eventually become a high school hockey coach and baseball coach after I get my teaching degree,” said recipient Leslie McKay.
