Award Categories

Volunteer of the Year presented by the Canada Games Legacy Fund

Volunteer of the Year Award presented by the Canada Games Legacy Fund is awarded to an individual whose effort and enthusiasm contribute to the enhancement and development of amateur sport in Manitoba. Individuals in this category commit time and energy and inspire their sporting community with their leadership by example. Thanks to the Canada Games Legacy Fund, the winner of this award wins a $5,000 grant for the organization that nominated them.

 

Manitoba’s Credit Unions Official of the Year

Official of the Year is presented to someone who has committed countless hours to become the most skilled and capable official in their sport. This individual demonstrates contributions to sport development and even temperament, and they’re seen as an advocate for fair play and ethical behaviour in sport.

 

Manitoba Dental Association Junior Athlete of the Year

Junior Athlete of the Year is presented annually to a young Manitoban athlete for outstanding athletic achievement in their chosen sport.

 

Calm Air Junior Team of the Year

The Calm Air Junior Team of the Year Award serves to recognize and celebrate the cooperative effort put forth by members of a team pursuing common goals and achieving greatness.

 

Travel Manitoba Open Athlete of the Year

Open Athlete of the Year is presented annually to a Manitoban athlete for their significant athletic achievements in their chosen sport. Open athletes are classified as any age category after junior.

 

Manitoba Hydro Open Team of the Year

Open Team of the Year serves to recognize and celebrate the cooperative effort put forth by members of a team pursuing common goals and achieving greatness. Open teams are classified as any age category after junior.

 

Calm Air Peter Dick Award – School Systems 

These are individuals who coach in the school system as an extra-curricular activity. This award is open to coaches of all grade levels from elementary through high school.

 

Travel Manitoba Vince Leah Memorial Award – Fundamentals 

These are individuals who coach grassroots athletes of any age. The coaching environment at this level is primarily non-competitive with an emphasis on participation and having fun.

 

Konica Minolta Dr. Jack Hunt Award – Learn to Train

These are coaches who are responsible for athletes developing competitive skills and preparing for competition (i.e. regional or provincial).

 

Manitoba Hydro Janet Arnott Memorial Award – Train to Train

These are coaches who are responsible for athletes who compete at the Canada Games.

 

Manitoba’s Credit Unions Peter Williamson Memorial Award – Train to Compete/Train to Win

These are coaches who primarily work with high performance athletes that compete at the national or international level.

 

Manitoba Dental Association Active for Life Award

These are coaches who are responsible for athletes focusing on achieving health and fitness for life.

 

Manitoba Aboriginal Sports & Recreation Council (MASRC) Awards

Manitoba Sports Hall of Fame Class of 2020 Inductions

The final members of the Manitoba Sports Hall of Fame Class of 2020 are set to be inducted during Night of Champions presented by PlayNow.com. These extraordinary individuals have shown to be the most impactful members of our sporting community through their achievements, perseverance, and dedication.
